The short answer

What does Cicada do for restaurants and hospitality?

For a restaurant, bar or hotel, Cicada is an AI agent that handles the messages around service. It reads booking and event inquiries from your inbox and web form, checks the date against your booking system, and drafts the reply with the right menu and terms. It drafts the week's supplier orders from your par levels and sends them after your yes. It sends you the week's shifts from your schedule, drafts replies to new reviews, and in the staff WhatsApp group it answers when someone names it. Nothing goes to a guest or a supplier without your yes.

What it does

What your restaurant or hotel does.

01

Answers booking inquiries

Reads booking and event inquiries from your inbox and web form, checks the date against your booking system, and drafts the reply with the right menu and terms.

02

Drafts supplier orders

Works out the order from your par levels and what's on hand, drafts it to each supplier, and sends it from your inbox after your yes.

03

Sends the week's shifts

Reads the schedule from your sheet and sends you each person's shifts, or posts them in the staff WhatsApp group when you say.

04

Drafts replies to reviews

Reads new reviews and drafts a reply in your voice to each, the critical ones first. They're posted after your yes, through the site's app or its own browser.

05

Answers the staff group

Add it to the staff WhatsApp group. It stays quiet until someone names it, then answers: tonight's covers, the large tables, who's on tomorrow.

06

Reports on a clock

"Text me tomorrow's bookings at 10" becomes a message on the minute: covers, large tables, guest notes and what's on order.

Setup

Set up in three steps.

  1. Say what the job is

Describe the role in a sentence when you sign up, or tell the agent in the chat. It writes its own brief, which you can read and change any time.

  2. Connect the apps it needs

One click for most apps. Each one can be Full, Ask first or Read-only, for every agent in the workspace.

  3. Link your phone, or don't

Scan a code and it's in your iMessage or WhatsApp. Or keep it in the app, Slack and email. Hand it the first job in the same message.

Control

Nothing goes out without your yes.

Nothing goes out without your yes

Anything that can't be undone, and any message to another person, waits for your OK. Approve with a 👍 in the chat, or set a role to full autonomy once you trust it.

Read-only is a real lock

Make any app read-only and the agent can look but never change a thing. It applies to every agent in the workspace, from their next run.

Every step on the record

Each run shows what it read, what it did and what it sent, step by step, in the Activity tab. Corrections you make stick.

What it won't do.

Won't pretend

If it couldn't confirm something, it leaves it out and says so. A number without a source doesn't go in a message.

Won't go around you

It never messages anyone on your behalf unless you asked, never spends money, and never makes a judgement call about money on its own.

Won't read what isn't shared

Teammates' agents work only through the apps the workspace shares. Your inbox and your personal apps stay under your own login.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Does it work with my booking system?

If it has an app, connect it in a click. If it's a website with no app, Cicada uses its own browser with your login kept in a vault, and you can watch it and take over.

Will it reply to guests on its own?

No. Booking replies, review replies and supplier orders wait for your OK, and a 👍 in the chat sends them. It never spends money or makes a money decision on its own.

Can the staff use it?

Add it to the staff WhatsApp group and it answers when someone names it. It acts on your instructions only, and never messages anyone privately unless you ask.

Where do I talk to it?

WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack, email or the web app. Link your phone with a code and text it mid-service; it answers in the same thread.

Can it read invoices and delivery notes?

Yes. Send a photo or a PDF and it reads it: it can check a delivery against the order and put the lines in a sheet.

Can my managers have their own?

Yes. Everyone in your workspace gets their own agent. Shared apps like the booking system and the schedule are connected once; each person's inbox stays under their own login.

Will it remember our menus and terms?

It keeps a memory of your menus, your suppliers, your terms and your rules that you can read and edit in the app. Corrections stick.

What does it cost?

Every workspace starts with 300 free credits. You add a card at sign-up and nothing is charged until you run low; then it's $25 for 200 credits, with no subscription. A quick reply is about 5 credits and a typical run under 20; plans start at $99 a month.
