AI Project Manager

An AI project manager in your Slack.

It reads Linear, Jira, Asana or Notion and tells you where every project really stands. It sums up the standup, chases the blocker that has sat for three days, and writes the timeline as a document you can share.

Asked Maya on the templates issue. The migration is assigned to Dan in Linear and he's been tagged. I'll post here when either one moves.

The short answer

What is an AI project manager?

An AI project manager is an agent that keeps projects moving the way a human PM does: it reads the tracker, writes the status, notices what is stuck and asks the person who can unstick it. Cicada's works in Linear, Jira, Asana and Notion, sits in Slack, and joins your standups on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or Webex as a notetaker. It sends a status update on the schedule you set, flags work that is late or at risk, and writes timelines and project briefs as shareable documents. It asks before it messages anyone for you.

What it does

What your AI project manager does.

01

Writes the status from the tracker

Reads Linear, Jira, Asana or Notion and writes the status in plain sentences: what shipped, what moved, what is late. Nobody has to call a meeting to find out.

02

Sums up the standup

Joins the standup on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or Webex as a notetaker, or reads the async updates in Slack, and posts who is doing what and what is blocked.

03

Chases blockers

Notices the issue that hasn't moved in days, asks the person who can unblock it in the thread after your yes, and tells you when it moves.

04

Writes timelines as documents

Turns the plan into a shareable timeline: milestones, owners and dates in a sheet or a document, with your company's logo and colors, on a permanent link.

05

Flags risk early

Compares the work left against the date and tells you which milestones are at risk and why, before the review where everyone finds out.

06

Keeps the tracker tidy

Updates statuses, files the action items from the meeting as issues and links them to the project, in the tracker you already use.

Who it's for

Who hires an AI project manager.

Engineering leads

Status without the status meeting

A weekly update written from Linear or Jira, sent to the people who need it.

Product managers

Standups that turn into issues

The notes from the call, and the action items filed in the tracker before the next one.

Agency owners

Every client project accounted for

One message each Monday with where each project stands and what each client is waiting on.

Founders

A PM before you hire one

Someone tracking the launch, chasing the blockers and keeping the dates honest.

Operations teams

Cross-team projects in one view

Work from Asana, Jira and Notion read together, so the dependency between teams is visible.

Consultants

Client-ready status

A clean status document on a link, with your logo on it, ready to forward.

Setup

Set up in three steps.

  1. Say what the job is

Describe the role in a sentence when you sign up, or tell the agent in the chat. It writes its own brief, which you can read and change any time.

  2. Connect the apps it needs

One click for most apps. Each one can be Full, Ask first or Read-only, for every agent in the workspace.

  3. Link your phone, or don't

Scan a code and it's in your iMessage or WhatsApp. Or keep it in the app, Slack and email. Hand it the first job in the same message.

Control

Nothing goes out without your yes.

Nothing goes out without your yes

Anything that can't be undone, and any message to another person, waits for your OK. Approve with a 👍 in the chat, or set a role to full autonomy once you trust it.

Read-only is a real lock

Make any app read-only and the agent can look but never change a thing. It applies to every agent in the workspace, from their next run.

Every step on the record

Each run shows what it read, what it did and what it sent, step by step, in the Activity tab. Corrections you make stick.

What it won't do.

Won't pretend

If it couldn't confirm something, it leaves it out and says so. A number without a source doesn't go in a message.

Won't go around you

It never messages anyone on your behalf unless you asked, never spends money, and never makes a judgement call about money on its own.

Won't read what isn't shared

Teammates' agents work only through the apps the workspace shares. Your inbox and your personal apps stay under your own login.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Where do I talk to it?

Slack, iMessage, WhatsApp, email or the web app. In a Slack channel it answers when it is mentioned, in the same thread. In a group chat it stays quiet until someone names it.

Which trackers does it work with?

Linear, Jira, Asana, Notion, GitHub and the rest of the 1,000+ apps it connects to. It reads and updates the tracker you already use; nothing has to move.

Can it join our standups?

Yes, on Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Webex. It joins as a notetaker, says it's taking notes, and posts the decisions and action items when the call ends.

Will it message my team on its own?

Only when you ask. A message to another person waits for your 👍 unless you've set the role to full autonomy, and you can set the tracker to Ask first or Read-only.

Can it change issues in the tracker?

If you allow it. Each app can be Full, Ask first or Read-only. Start read-only for status, and turn on writes when you want it filing action items.

What if the tracker is out of date?

It reports what the tracker says and points out where it doesn't match what people said in Slack or the standup, rather than guessing which one is right.

Can it run more than one project?

Yes. Ask about any project by name, or have a coordinator split a portfolio between specialists that each watch a few projects, with one summary back to you.

Can my team use it too?

Yes. Everyone in your workspace gets their own agents. The tracker and Slack are connected once for the team; personal apps like your inbox stay under your own login.

What does it cost?

Every workspace starts with 300 free credits. You add a card at sign-up and nothing is charged until you run low; then it's $25 for 200 credits, with no subscription. A quick reply is about 5 credits and a typical run under 20; plans start at $99 a month.
