@Cicada how do I get the 3rd floor printer working on a mac
Cicada · 9:12 AM
From the IT guide in Notion: System Settings, Printers & Scanners, add a printer, then pick "3F-Office". If it isn't listed, check you're on the office Wi-Fi, not Guest.

@Cicada Priya starts monday, she needs google workspace, slack and hubspot
Cicada · 9:21 AM
Logged as an onboarding request in Jira and assigned to Sam, with the three accounts and Monday's start date. I've added a row for Priya's laptop to the device sheet.

The short answer

What is an AI IT support assistant?

An AI IT support assistant is an agent that takes the first line of IT questions so your IT person isn't answering the same ones all day. Cicada's sits in a Slack help channel and answers when someone names it, from your own docs in Notion or Google Docs. It logs access and onboarding requests in Jira, Linear or the tracker you connect, keeps the device and software license list in a sheet, and hands anything it can't answer to a person with the details written up. It doesn't reset passwords or change permissions itself.

What it does

What your AI IT support assistant does.

01

Answers in the help channel

In Slack, when someone names it, from your own IT docs and past answers. The printer, the Wi-Fi and the VPN questions stop landing on one person.

02

Logs access and onboarding requests

New starter, new tool, new permission: logged as a ticket in Jira, Linear or the tracker you connect, with who, what and when, assigned to the right person.

03

Keeps the device and license lists

Who has which laptop, which software seats you pay for and when each renews, in a Google Sheet it updates as requests come through.

04

Flags renewals before they bill

A message before each software renewal with the seats you pay for and who holds them, so you can cut the ones nobody uses.

05

Runs onboarding and offboarding checklists

Accounts to create, devices to hand out, things to collect on the last day. It tracks each item and nudges the owner after your yes.

06

Escalates to a person

Anything your docs don't cover, anything urgent and anything that needs admin rights goes to your IT person with the question and what's been tried.

Who it's for

Who hires an AI IT support assistant.

Office managers

IT questions off your plate

The printer, the Wi-Fi and the guest network answered in Slack from the guide you already wrote.

IT leads

A first line you don't have to hire

Repeat questions answered and requests logged, so your day goes on the work that needs admin access.

Operations managers

Onboarding ready on day one

Accounts, devices and access requested before the start date, and the checklist tracked to the end.

Founders

Know what software you pay for

Every seat and every renewal in one sheet, with a heads-up before the next bill.

Finance teams

License spend in one place

Seats, owners and renewal dates kept current, ready for the budget review.

HR teams

Offboarding without loose ends

A last-day checklist so laptops come back and every account removal is logged for IT.

Setup

Set up in three steps.

  1. Say what the job is

Describe the role in a sentence when you sign up, or tell the agent in the chat. It writes its own brief, which you can read and change any time.

  2. Connect the apps it needs

One click for most apps. Each one can be Full, Ask first or Read-only, for every agent in the workspace.

  3. Link your phone, or don't

Scan a code and it's in your iMessage or WhatsApp. Or keep it in the app, Slack and email. Hand it the first job in the same message.

Control

Nothing goes out without your yes.

Nothing goes out without your yes

Anything that can't be undone, and any message to another person, waits for your OK. Approve with a 👍 in the chat, or set a role to full autonomy once you trust it.

Read-only is a real lock

Make any app read-only and the agent can look but never change a thing. It applies to every agent in the workspace, from their next run.

Every step on the record

Each run shows what it read, what it did and what it sent, step by step, in the Activity tab. Corrections you make stick.

What it won't do.

Won't pretend

If it couldn't confirm something, it leaves it out and says so. A number without a source doesn't go in a message.

Won't go around you

It never messages anyone on your behalf unless you asked, never spends money, and never makes a judgement call about money on its own.

Won't change access itself

It logs requests and tracks them. Passwords, permissions and anything that needs admin rights are changed by a person.

Things to ask your AI IT support assistant.

  1. 01

"@Cicada how do I set up the VPN on a new laptop?"

You get: The steps from your IT guide in the thread with a link to the doc; if the guide doesn't cover it, it says so and passes it to IT.

  2. 02

"Log a request: Marta needs edit access to the finance drive."

You get: A ticket in Jira with who needs what and why, assigned to your IT person.

  3. 03

"Who still has a laptop from the old batch, and when do our Slack seats renew?"

You get: The names from the device sheet and the renewal date, with the number of seats you pay for.

  4. 04

"Andy's last day is Friday. Run offboarding."

You get: A checklist in Jira: accounts to remove, the laptop to collect, files to hand over, with an owner on each item.

  5. 05

"Every Monday at 9, tell me what's open in IT and what's been waiting longest."

You get: A weekly message on the minute: open requests, the oldest three, and anything due this week.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Where do people ask it?

In a Slack channel like #it-help, where it answers when someone names it, or one-to-one in Slack, iMessage, WhatsApp, email or the web app. It answers in the thread it was asked in.

Where do its answers come from?

From the docs you give it: your IT guide in Notion or Google Docs, setup notes and past answers. If your docs don't cover something, it says so and hands the question to a person instead of guessing.

Can it reset passwords or grant access?

No. It logs the request with the details, assigns it to the person with admin rights and says in the thread that it's logged. The change itself is made by a person.

Which ticketing tools does it work with?

Jira, Linear, Zendesk and the others you connect. If you don't use one, it can keep the requests in a Google Sheet.

How does it keep the license list current?

It updates the sheet as requests come through and can check it against admin exports you send it. Renewal dates come from you or from the invoices in a connected inbox.

What won't it do?

It won't change permissions, reset accounts or touch anyone's device, won't message anyone unless asked, and won't guess at a fix your docs don't support.

Can my team use it?

Yes. Everyone in your workspace gets their own agent. Slack and the ticketing tool are connected once for the team; each person's inbox stays under their own login.

What does it cost?

Every workspace starts with 300 free credits. You add a card at sign-up and nothing is charged until you run low; then it's $25 for 200 credits, with no subscription. A quick reply is about 5 credits and a typical run under 20; plans start at $99 a month.
