Pally vs Cicada

Pally is a free personal assistant you text, with its own number, phone calls and a browser, built for one person's messages, calendar and errands. Cicada is built for work across a team: agents for every person, in iMessage and WhatsApp groups, Slack and email, in your company's apps and in your meetings.

The short version

Pick Cicada if you want agents for your work: a workspace for your team, in Slack as well as WhatsApp and iMessage groups, that joins your calls and keeps your content out of training. Pick Pally if you want a free personal assistant for your own messages, calendar and errands, with phone calls both ways.

Why people pick Cicada

What Cicada does that Pally doesn't.

A workspace for your team

Pally is one assistant per person; Trusted Pals connect two people's Pallys one at a time, and we couldn't find a team workspace or admin. In Cicada your team shares one workspace: apps connected once, personal logins kept personal, and agents for each person that check with each other.

In Slack and WhatsApp groups too

Mention Cicada in a Slack channel or name it in a WhatsApp or iMessage group and it answers there, keeps every photo and PDF anyone posts, and reminds whoever promised the report by Monday. Pally's group chats page covers iMessage and Telegram groups, and Slack is an app it reads.

It joins the call

Cicada joins your Meet, Zoom, Teams and Webex calls and texts you the notes, with the transcript kept. Pally reads recordings from Granola, Fathom, Fireflies and Plaud; we couldn't find it joining calls.

Kept out of training

Your workspace content isn't used to train models, and any member can set each app to Full, Ask first or Read-only for every agent. Pally's privacy policy says it uses your data to train its models unless you opt out.

Built for a team

A team of agents for a team of people.

Pally is one assistant per person; Trusted Pals lets your Pally coordinate with other people's Pallys one person at a time. Cicada is a workspace built for a team.

Agents for every person

Each person in your workspace gets their own agents. The apps the team shares are connected once; personal ones, like your inbox, stay under your own login.

A coordinator and specialists

A big job is split between specialists that work at the same time, and you get one answer back from the agent you asked.

Agents that work together

Teammates' agents know what each other covers, use each other's fresh figures and check with each other through the apps you share, never through anyone's private notes. Ask yours to message someone who uses Cicada, at your company or another, and their answer comes back to you.

Know-how the whole team shares

What one agent learns about the business, every agent in the workspace knows, and a skill one agent proves is shared with the rest.

Cicada is built for a business: a workspace with members, shared apps connected once, personal logins kept personal, and agents for each person that know what each other covers.

In the team's threads

Both are something you text. Cicada also works in your Slack channels and DMs and in your iMessage and WhatsApp groups, speaking when someone names it, so it answers in the thread the team is already in.

Meetings and a lock on every app

Cicada joins your Meet, Zoom, Teams and Webex calls as a notetaker and texts you the notes. And any member can set each connected app to Full, Ask first or Read-only for every agent in the workspace.
